Lessons

We offer Western horsemanship and ranch-style horseback riding lessons. We are an adult-centered horseback riding lesson community here at Evergreen Stables. Come learn amongst your own peers as you ride our horses.

Anyone ages nine and older are encouraged to take horseback riding lessons.

Our safe, well-trained lesson horses will guide you in learning to control your horse in a variety of situations. We focus on both equitation (how you look and ride) and horsemanship (how well you work as a team). With strong equitation skills, you'll be able to ride any horse or move onto another discipline confidently.

Comprehensive Horsemanship

Care for the horse

In addition to riding, in every lesson we teach essential horse care skills, including grooming, tacking, warming up, riding, and cooling down. We believe in empowering our students with the knowledge to properly care for a horse, whether you're considering owning or leasing one in the future.

Proper Gear Matters

Minimal equipment is needed to get started with horseback riding lessons. Here’s what we recommend:

  • Riding Helmet: We provide helmets for all riders.

  • Long Pants: Required for safety and comfort. Jeans are a popular choice, but feel free to ask if you’d prefer to ride in something else. No shorts please.

  • Boots with a Heel: A heel is necessary for proper foot positioning. While you don’t need official riding boots, we do recommend boots with a small heel—Western boots work great too!

  • Chaps (Optional): You’re welcome to wear long or half chaps for added comfort and protection.

Well

We provide helmets or you can bring your own. No bike helmets please.

With these basic items, you’ll be ready to enjoy your lesson and ride safely!
